Information Technology Department is the fusion of computer science with Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Development and application of computer systems comes under this foray.

Our Main Aim Is To

Our department of IT engineering has highly qualified staff with industrial as well as teaching experience, which will surely create the quality technocrats and excellent human beings with a vision to take our nation towards peace and prosperity. Also we form a student community under which we take lots of Personality Development Programs, Aptitude & Technical tests and also other cultural activities for students convenience.

Considering the requirements of the corporate world, we focus on the core subjects like OS, DBMS, Software Engineering etc and application oriented subjects like mobile computing and software testing. Our College has signed MOU with various companies for the purpose of enriching the technical education process and enhancing the quality of education imparted to students of all engineering disciplines in the field of Information Technology. This is one of the features of a good IT engineering college.

VPMM efforts to improve environmental sustainability began, like many things, as a spontaneous grassroots movement amongst students, staff, and Fellows alike.

From its commitment to protecting Rare Breeds to its embracing of environmentally-friendly technologies, VPMM has shown an intuitive dedication to green issues.

Our college is located in a pleasant and greenish environment. We have an environmental club in our campus.

The club will involve in a diversity of programmes aimed at promoting environmental consciousness and protecting the environment. Members will contribute by providing creative ideas on how to initiate and organize programmes in line with the club’s objectives as well as in participating in “green” activities.

The activities of Environmental Development Cell include:

• Environmental awareness program on “importance of trees” to the student and faculty on every Saturdays.
• Tree plantation inside our college campus.
• Our students are also participating in NSS camps in nearby villages.







Sports form a very important component of extracurricular activities. It is an activity that promotes a spirit of competiveness amongst the students. Sports activities encourage team work and healthy competition. In order to make the vision of our institute a reality, we have started the sports activities in our college right from the beginning of the institute. We have got an excellent full-fledged infrastructure for conducting various sports events like volley ball, throw ball, shuttle, indoor games, athletic events etc., and well qualified Physical Education Director to guide the students in the sports activities. By taking part in sports, our students gain a lot of mental and physical fitness. It helps to improve emotional well being, self confidence and leadership qualities of our students. It also enables character building and inculcates the team building skills.


Yoga is associated with meditative practices and it can help you become more aware of your body’s posture, alignment and patterns of movement. It makes the body more flexible and helps you relax.

We, at V.P.M.M.Engineering College for Women organize physical exercises and yoga session frequently which is mandatory for all the students and helps them to maintain harmony of body and spirit. It also increases attention span, improves memory and sharpens the focus of the students. It is also prolific for stress reduction, and emotional wellness.

IT Lab Facilities

The department of Information Technology has well equipped software laboratories that provide the facilities for conducting the laboratory classes which supplement the theory courses. The laboratories also provide infrastructural support (hardware and software) for carrying out the research and development work in various areas of computer science and information technology. The laboratories are fully networked and allow the students to work in the real internet environment.

Computer Practices Laboratory

The Department of Information technology has a well-established Computer Practices Laboratory exclusively for First Year students. The computer Practices laboratory provides essential facilities to the students to enhance their knowledge in Programming.

Database Management Systems Laboratory

The objective of this lab is to develop the ability to design, implement and manipulate databases as well as to build Database management systems. Ability to design systems by using ER Modeling. Ability to develop the skills of writing applications by using SQL. Ability to understand query optimization techniques. Understanding of transaction processing.

Case Tools Laboratory

Students will be capable to acquire the generic software development skill through various stages of software life cycle. He will also be able to ensure the quality of software through software development with various protocol based environments. After completion of course, students will be able to generate test cases for software testing. Students will also be able to handle software development models through rational method. Rational Rose Enterprise Edition software is used to serve the objectives. The courses contain Basic Structural Modeling, Advance Structural Modeling, Basic Behavioral Modeling, Advance Behavioral Modeling, Architectural Modeling, UML Notation, UML Stranded Elements, Designing Test cases, Test Suits, Rational Unified Process etc.

Networks Laboratory

Networking Lab is equipped with the latest configuration of Acer computer ( Intel® Core™ i3 2100 CPU@3.10 GHz, RAM 2GB, HDD 320 GB, DVD/CD ROM) . In this laboratory students acquire skills of computer networking. They develop programs related to network programming and network communication in different computer languages on various platforms. This laboratory also has various network simulators. An emphasis has been given on practical approach to carry out networking experiments on a real time simulator like LAN Trainer. The networking laboratory is equipped with the following software: LAN Trainer Software, Boson Simulator, NS2, Matlab etc.

This lab is equipped with advanced networking hardware including switches, routers, hardware firewalls, apart from the hardware the lab also has a software tool like Network Simulator-2, QUALNET Simulator, and OPNET to simulate the environment to analyze the performance of the network.

Web Programming Laboratory

The objective of this lab is to develop an ability to design and implement static and dynamic website

• JAVA GAME PROGRAMMING AND XML (XSL, XSLT): 2D, 3D Graphics, Event Handling and Developing Online Games.

Data Mining Laboratory

To understand the need of Data Warehouses over Databases,and the difference between usage of operational and historical data repositories.To be able to differentiate between RDBMS schemas & Data Warehouse Schemas. To understand the concept of Analytical Processing (OLAP) and its similarities & differences with respect to Transaction Processing (OLTP). To conceptualize the architecture of a Data Warehouse and the need for preprocessing. To understand the need for Data Mining and advantages to the business and scientific world. The validating criteria for an outcome to be categorized as Data Mining result will be understood. To get a clear idea of various classes of Data Mining techniques, their need, scenarios (situations) and scope of their applicability. To learn the algorithms used for various types of Data Mining Problems. The networking laboratory is equipped with the following software: Weka, a collection of machine learning algorithms for solving real-world data mining problems. It is written in Java and runs on almost any platform.

Mobile Application Development Laboratory

The Department of Information technology has a well established Mobile Laboratory. This laboratory provides essential facilities to the students to enhance their knowledge in Mobile Application development. The Laboratory is supported by Data Center, running on Unix/Linux environment; all Computers are connected via network. The Laboratory is well equipped with, 30 systems with Intel Pentium Processor with speed 3.00 GHz, RAM 2.0 GB capacity, HP Laser Jet Printers, centralized UPS system, unlimited internet facility in an Air Conditioned environment.

Cloud Computing Laboratory

The Department of Information technology has well established Grid and Cloud Computing Laboratory for Final Year students. This laboratory provides essential facilities to the students to enhance their knowledge to set up Grid and Cloud computing environment, virtualization, to run application on grid and cloud environment and to handle big data. The Laboratory is supported by Datacentre, running on Unix/Linux environment; all Computers are connected via network. The Laboratory is well equipped with, 30 systems with Intel Pentium Processor with speed 3.00 GHz, RAM 2.0 GB capacity, HP Laser Printers, Heavy Duty dot matrix printer,Centralized UPS system and unlimited internet facility in an Air Conditioned environment.Grid and Cloud Computing Laboratory.
